About Us

A World Leader in Engineering and IT Services

Founded in 1988 by three engineers from France's top schools, ALTEN has grown from a French consultancy into the global leader in Engineering and IT Services, generating €4.10 billion in revenue in 2025 with 57,400 employees across more than 30 countries. The Group serves over 6,500 clients — the world's most prestigious industrial and technology companies — covering every major sector from Aeronautics, Space, Defence and Automotive to Life Sciences, Telecoms, Energy, Banking and Public Services. Driven by the conviction that engineers are the architects of tomorrow's world, ALTEN has built a world-renowned technical organisation of excellence, combining 21 Delivery Centers globally with an offshore capability that stretches from Romania and Poland to India, China, Morocco and Vietnam. The Group is listed on the Euronext Paris exchange and continues to grow through a clear three-axis strategy: high-level positioning in engineering services, continuous enrichment of its offerings, and deep geographical proximity with clients everywhere it operates.

Who we are

Creating Value Across the Entire Product Development Cycle

Engineering is our core business and our DNA. For over 35 years, ALTEN has been the leading technological partner for major industrial clients, covering the full product development cycle through two complementary disciplines: Engineering, which accounts for 70% of our activity, and IT Services, which represents the remaining 30%. We work through two primary delivery models: Consulting, where our Consultant-Engineers are embedded directly on client premises under ALTEN management, and Work Packages, a higher-responsibility model in which ALTEN takes charge of defined scopes of work with greater accountability, process maturity, and the option for offshore execution. Today, more than 7,000 consultants work from our network of delivery centers, maintaining consistent quality and execution processes regardless of country. Across 12 industries and more than 30 countries, our 51,000 engineers tackle the most complex and strategically significant projects in the world — from the cockpit of the future to next-generation power systems, from autonomous vehicles to life-saving medical devices.

What we do

Full Coverage of Technologies, Across Every Industry

ALTEN provides a comprehensive spectrum of Engineering and IT Services, coordinated at the transnational level through our Skills and Offers Department. Our Engineering expertise spans Mechanical & Materials engineering, Electronics, Embedded Software, Systems Engineering & PDM, Manufacturing, Construction & Infrastructure, and Environment, Health & Safety. On the IT and digital side, we cover Application Software, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management, Cybersecurity, Cloud & Infrastructure, Software Testing & QA, AMOA & Business Analysis, Green IT, and Project Management Office. This breadth allows us to support clients across the entire value chain — from innovation and R&D through to production and deployment — in every sector we serve: Aeronautics, Space, Defence & Naval, Automotive, Rail & Mobility, Energy & Environment, Life Sciences & Health, Industrial Equipment, Telecoms, Banking & Insurance, Retail, and Public Services. Whatever the technological challenge, ALTEN has the expertise, the people, and the global reach to address it.

Our Purpose

Building Tomorrow's World Today

At ALTEN, we share one conviction: engineers are the architects of tomorrow's world. That belief defines everything we do. As a global leader in Engineering and IT Services, we exist to support businesses in their technological and sustainable transformation — pushing the boundaries of innovation, staying one step ahead of change, and always thinking about the future in the present. We are equally committed to making a positive and lasting impact on the companies we partner with, on the careers of our talents, and on the societal and environmental challenges that define our era. As our Chairman Simon Azoulay puts it: 'At ALTEN, we are convinced that innovation only makes sense if it has a positive impact over time and on people's lives.' That is the purpose that unites every one of our 57,400 people across 30 countries.

Our Values

Engineering Culture, Human Capital, Sustainable Growth

Three core values shape ALTEN's corporate culture and are shared by every employee across the Group. First, an engineering culture — a passion for technical excellence, rigour, and innovation that runs through everything from how we recruit to how we deliver projects. Second, the development of human capital — a belief that our people are our most valuable asset, and that investing in their careers, skills, and well-being is not a nice-to-have but a business imperative. Third, the pursuit of profitable and sustainable growth — a commitment to reconciling economic performance with environmental and social responsibility, because long-term success demands it. These values are not aspirational slogans: they are the operational backbone of ALTEN's sustainable development strategy and the lens through which every major decision — from client engagement to supplier selection to R&D investment — is made.

Why working with us

The Engineer's House: Expertise, Scale, and Ambition

ALTEN is not simply a staffing provider — we are a strategic technology partner. What sets us apart is the combination of depth and scale: a 35-year track record in complex, high-stakes engineering, a proprietary Technical Direction employing 270 specialists and more than 500 project managers across 15 countries, and nine Smart Digital research programmes that keep our teams at the cutting edge. Clients choose ALTEN because our Work Packages model goes beyond resource provision, allowing us to take ownership of defined technical scopes and deliver measurable outcomes. Our global delivery network — 21 centers across 30+ countries — provides both the local proximity and the offshore flexibility to optimise cost and quality simultaneously. Beyond the technical credentials, ALTEN is a company that invests in its own Labs, holds EcoVadis Gold, CDP A-, and UN Global Compact Advanced status, and has been recognised by Deloitte as one of France's Best Managed Companies in 2026. When the world's most ambitious industrial projects need a technology partner that can grow with them, they choose ALTEN.

Sustainability

Committed to a Greener, More Responsible Future

Sustainability is not a layer added on top of our business — it is embedded in our corporate culture and our development strategy. ALTEN has had its carbon reduction targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative and is committed to reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions by 59.8% by 2030, with net-zero emissions by 2050. Since 2019, the Group has been a signatory of the Syntec-Engineering climate charter. Our 4-pronged action plan covers renewable energy consumption — already at 12,527 MWh in 2023, with 50% of entities ISO 14001 certified — digital responsibility through reduced software consumption and responsible data management, sustainable mobility through EV charging points, carpooling partnerships and active transport facilities, and responsible sourcing aligned with our supplier standards. On the sustainable innovation front, 31% of our R&D is dedicated to sustainability-related challenges, including low-carbon mobility, energy optimisation, and smart green systems. Our performance is recognised externally: EcoVadis Gold (78/100), a CDP score of A-, and GAIA ESG rank of 31st out of 230 companies assessed.

Community & Impact

A Responsible and Citizen Partner

Being a responsible partner means placing ethics and societal commitment at the heart of our business. ALTEN has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since 2010 — recognised at the Advanced Level — and actively supports meaningful societal initiatives across the territories where it operates. The Group maintains numerous partnerships with schools and universities, contributing to the professional integration of young people and the development of engineering talent pipelines. ALTEN employees also invest time through skills-based sponsorship programmes, placing their expertise in the service of the communities around them. In Sport, ALTEN is a major partner of teams including the Alpine Endurance Team and Aruba Ducati MotoGP, turning the racetrack into a laboratory for tomorrow's industrial technologies. These partnerships are not marketing exercises — they are living proof of how engineering innovation and community engagement go hand in hand.

Inclusion & Diversity

Diversity, the Driver of Our Collective Performance

At ALTEN, diversity, equity and inclusion are not policies on paper — they are the lived reality of a Group that employs more than 57,700 people representing over 100 nationalities across 30+ countries. We believe that every individual should be able to thrive professionally while remaining fully themselves, and we take concrete action to make that possible. ALTEN has signed the UN Women's Empowerment Principles and created the Women at ALTEN community to accelerate the representation of women in scientific and technical roles, backed by targeted recruitment, mentoring, training, and showcasing of role models. In France, the Group has signed the Diversity Charter, formalising our commitment to inclusion across all dimensions: origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, beliefs, and disability. Internally, ALTEN fosters a culture of belonging through awareness programmes, technical communities (Data, Testing, Agile), cultural events, and sports activities that bring our people together. The Group has also been awarded the Top Employer France label by the CRF Institute in recognition of its HR best practices.

Awards & Accreditations
