Our vision is to be the leader for exceptional client service and this means a laser focus on quality in all of BDO’s countries and territories, in order to ensure the consistent delivery of exceptional service worldwide. For us, exceptional client service is based on five key components that define BDO today: client needs, communication, commitment, people and value.

Client needs

BDO works with clients listed on all of the world’s major stock markets and we are the adviser of choice for many of the largest private companies in each territory where we have a presence. We invest a great deal of time in getting to know our clients: building personal relationships so that we can anticipate their needs and offer genuine added value. We aim always to fulfil our clients’ complex needs, through a combination of in-depth local market knowledge and global industry expertise and technical skills.

Communication

Our top priority is to be clear, open and swift in all our communication. In practice, this means ensuring short lines of communication so our clients always know who to talk to. Our client teams, including our senior professionals, are easily contactable so their experience in offering in-depth industry expertise and commercially astute insights is readily available.

Commitment

Our constant drive towards achieving the high expectations of our clients is in our DNA. This means that every BDO firm is committed to providing the consistently high-quality service delivery to meet their clients’ needs. Our clients appreciate the outcome: efficient, constructive, workable and timely solutions, tailored to their particular needs.

People

In every BDO firm we employ experienced people and empower them to make a difference through top-class training, opportunities and reward. By providing the right environment for our people and the right people for our clients, we ensure a focus on the delivery of exceptional client service in all our firms. Our people are proud to work for BDO and this is clearly seen when they talk about our global organisation and their interaction with our global clients.

Value

At BDO, we believe that our new ideas and innovative thinking help clients achieve their objectives and contribute to their commercial success – now and in the future. The actionable advice we provide is backed by local and regional expertise, together with global experience. In our increasingly globalised economy that is an essential added value factor for every client’s business.

What we do

BDO is an international network of accounting, tax and advisory firms which perform professional services to clients throughout the country and around the globe.

Our Purpose

Our vision and purpose

Global solutions. Driven to be the best.

Our bold new vision ‘Global solutions. Driven to be the best.’ sets out a shared ambition to achieve our core purpose: People helping people

Our vision and purpose shape how we work, helping us to make better decisions, attract and retain talent, and secure the trust of our clients.

Across our worldwide footprint, we operate as one BDO. Our diverse global teams effectively harness local expertise, innovation, and cutting-edge technology to deliver sustainable, international solutions.

With an unwavering commitment to quality and integrity, our exceptional employees set us apart within a complex and rapidly evolving environment. It’s important to us that they feel proud and happy to work at BDO. We therefore seek to create a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace, where different perspectives are welcomed and celebrated. As a people-powered business, we nurture everyone to thrive.

Our colleagues, our clients, and our communities are at the heart of our vision - and for them, we are driven to be the best.

Our Values

Our Values are the cultural glue of our firm, they are a core element of our Strategic Framework. Our Core Purpose, Helping you succeed, is the foundation of why we do what we do as a firm and our Values define how we should behave towards one another.

By behaving in accordance with our Values we are in a strong position to successfully deliver upon our BUILD strategy in order to achieve our firm's Vision. Together with our Code of Conduct, they guide us in our day to day interactions and decision making with each other, our clients and society as a whole.

Our Values work interdependently and are built on three fundamental principles:

·     Our Values ensure that as a regulated business we act with integrity, we do what is right and they guide everything that we do.

·     Our Values start with each of us as an individual. We live the Values, we lead by example and it is our fundamental way of ‘being’.

·     Our Values help us all to be the best version of ourselves and encourage an environment that is inclusive and open.

Ultimately our Values nurture and protect our culture, one that is ethical, empowering, collaborative, inclusive and ambitious.

Why working with us

Governance

BDO is an international network of public accounting, tax and advisory firms which perform professional services under the name of BDO. Each BDO Member Firm is a member of BDO International Limited, a UK company limited by guarantee, either as a voting or non-voting member.

The rights and obligations of the BDO Member Firms are set out in the Articles of Association and the Regulations of BDO International Limited and included in the individual member firm agreements that each firm signs before joining BDO.

Service provision within the international BDO network of independent members firms is coordinated by Brussels Worldwide Services BVBA, a limited liability company incorporated in Belgium with its statutory seat in Zaventem, where the BDO Global Office is located.

The BDO network is governed by the Council, the Global Board and the Executive of BDO International Limited.

To facilitate communication, coordination of actions and the sharing of best practice, BDO is divided into three regions: EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa), Asia Pacific and Americas (Latin America, North America and Caribbean), each supported by a Regional Board.

ONE ORGANISATION – GLOBALLY CONNECTED

BDO’s global organisation extends across 166 countries and territories, with 115,661 people working out of 1,776 offices – and they’re all working towards one goal: to provide our clients with exceptional service.

Our firms across the organisation cooperate closely and comply with consistent operating principles and quality standards. That means local resources who understand your business, your local and international markets and the specifics of your industry: all backed by a truly global organisation.

The fee income of all BDO firms, including the members of their exclusive alliances, was US$14 billion as of 30 September 2023.

EXCEPTIONAL CLIENT SERVICE, DELIVERED ACROSS THE WORLD

BDO’s vision is to be the leader for exceptional client service. This is not about reinventing our profession’s approach to service, but about delivering our services exceptionally well – and delivering that high quality consistently in every office, every country and every territory where we have a presence. No matter where you do business, we have people who can help.

We demonstrate our objectivity and independence when dealing with our clients’ business issues, and this helps us to build relationships based on trust. There are five key components that describe BDO and our consistently exceptional service delivery:

  • CLIENT NEEDS: we anticipate our clients’ needs and are forthright in our views, in order to ensure the best outcome for you
  • COMMUNICATION: we are always clear, open & swift in our communication
  • COMMITMENT: we agree to and meet our commitments, meaning that we deliver what we promise, every day, for every client
  • PEOPLE: at BDO we are proud to provide the right environment for our people to grow and develop – but also the right people to deliver for our clients
  • VALUE: Our experts focus on creating value: we give our clients up to date ideas and valuable insights and advice that they can trust

We are a global organisation built on local relationships.

OUR GLOBAL COMMITMENT TO EXCEPTIONAL CLIENT SERVICE MEANS THAT WE DELIVER WHAT WE PROMISE, WHEN YOU NEED IT

We are the most agile and responsive of the global accounting organisations.

We’re big enough to be able to access the best group of experts for your needs from our national and international network, and we’re small enough to be responsive and innovative in how we tackle our clients’ challenges. We can provide the perfect contact for your needs, no matter where in the world you are.

Who we are

BDO is an international network of public accounting, tax and advisory firms which perform professional services under the name of BDO. For the year ended 30 September 2021 BDO (Including BDO's exclusive Alliances) announced a total combined fee income of more than US$ 11 billion, representing a year on year growth of 10.8% . Sustainability

Why sustainability matters at BDO

There is a growing business imperative to address sustainability across the board. BDO’s approach to sustainability is underpinned by our WHY – People helping people achieve their dreams - and we recognise the need to meet the sustainability expectations of all our stakeholders: our clients, our employees, our investors and our regulators. Sustainability is the overarching term we use to describe our efforts to minimise our negative impact on the world and it is core to our strategic ambition.

Our WHY guides every action we take and our dream is to inspire, educate and lead an unstoppable movement for sustainable business practice in our markets and in our organisation.

Our sustainability approach aims to create and foster long-term benefits by taking into consideration how we operate within an increasingly complex environment, one that encompasses diversity and inclusion, climate change, #blacklivesmatter, pollution, corruption, #metoo, human rights and employee welfare, supply chain scandals – and the broadening material risks that all businesses face.

There is a demand for transparency and accountability in environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters, which calls for better understanding of the impact of business and industry on the environment and our societies - and an effective response. For both BDO and on behalf of our clients, our objective is to be able to recognise threats, mitigate risk and capitalise on development opportunities.

Our commitment to Net-Zero

BDO is leading by example: as a member of the Net-Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance (NZFSPA), the BDO global network has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, in alignment with the Paris Agreement.

Community & Impact

As part of their corporate social responsibility programme, BDO in Rwanda has paid the health insurance premiums of 500 residents of the Rulindo District, as they were unable to afford the payment.

The donation was part of the firm's quarterly outreach programme, in which the company's staff respond to a particular community issue. On this occasion, the BDO team also joined hundreds of locals to undertake community work, better known locally as Umuganda, to renovate soil erosion control mechanisms.

Beatrice Mujawayezu, BSO Director at BDO in Rwanda, said: "Alongside providing auditing, tax and advisory services, we believe that it is important to support the wellbeing of our communities."

Omar Djuma, Business Development Supervisor at BDO in Rwanda, also commented this community had one of the lowest subscription rates for health insurance. BDO chose to support them because “we believe that if people join hands they can reach further."
