Working with us

Rigorous, Academic, Collegial — Since 1965

Founded by professors at Harvard and MIT, CRA has spent more than 60 years building a reputation for economic, financial, and management consulting that combines cutting-edge research with real-world expertise. We advise major law firms, corporations, accounting firms, and governments on their most complex challenges — from litigation and regulatory proceedings to critical business strategy. Our senior-led project teams bring together leading academic experts and seasoned business leaders, and it is that combination of rigour and experience that clients rely on when the stakes are highest. Working at CRA means working on substantive problems, with brilliant colleagues, in an environment where intellectual curiosity is not just welcome — it is expected.

Why joining us

A Supportive, Entrepreneurial Workplace Where Learning Comes First

We offer a supportive, entrepreneurial workplace where learning, resourcefulness, and integrity are central to our culture. Because project teams are assembled fresh for every client engagement, every member plays a critical role from day one — juniors work directly with the data, project managers, and testifying experts in a way that accelerates both technical and professional development faster than most environments allow. Top performers at CRA are resourceful individuals who take initiative and are full of ideas. Beyond project work, you can give back through our corporate pro bono and volunteer programmes, lead a Tech Lab training session, join an Employee Resource Group, or get involved with the Junior Class Council — all employee-created and led. We believe strongly in work-life sustainability, and our benefits programme — from competitive health coverage to parental leave to tuition reimbursement — reflects how seriously we take looking after our people.

Career path

Three Pathways into CRA

We offer structured pathways for students and recent graduates, experienced consultants looking to accelerate their career, and corporate professionals seeking to develop new skills. University hires typically join as research analysts or associates, gaining exposure to a wide range of practice areas from their first engagement. Experienced consultants join at the Senior Associate through Vice President levels depending on their background, and many go on to build long tenures with growing client responsibility and firm leadership. Corporate professionals join our operational functions — finance, technology, legal, HR, and more — and benefit from the same rigorous culture and development framework as consulting staff. Across all paths, internal mobility is part of how CRA grows its people: many of our leaders have moved between practices and offices over the course of their careers.

Training

A Robust Learning Culture Built From the Ground Up

People development is at the core of who we are at CRA. Our development framework provides multi-dimensional technical, foundational, and consulting skills to all staff, with formal training at every career stage — from Research and Analysis Core (RAC) onboarding for new junior hires to our New Principals Program for those moving into leadership. Core training programmes include live sessions, group workshops, and one-on-one professional coaching from external advisors, with opportunities to network and learn from colleagues across the firm. Beyond core curriculum, we offer Tech Labs — our homegrown, staff-led educational series covering technical and analytical tools such as Python, Tableau, Excel, and web scraping. Practice and department-specific training, LinkedIn Learning access (with more than 16,000 accredited courses), and external professional development reimbursement round out a learning culture that takes development seriously at every level.

What we are looking for

Intellectually Curious, Resourceful, and Ready to Contribute

We look for people who are intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and genuinely excited by the prospect of applying economics, finance, or data science to complex real-world problems. Whether you are a recent graduate with a strong academic foundation in a quantitative field, or an experienced professional with deep industry expertise, what matters most at CRA is the ability to think clearly, work collaboratively, and communicate your analysis with precision. We value people who take initiative, seek out new challenges, and are not afraid to ask questions. A demonstrated interest in the types of work we do — litigation support, regulatory economics, management consulting, transfer pricing, life sciences strategy — goes a long way. Leadership experience, community involvement, and a track record of taking on responsibility beyond the job description all matter to us as well.

Recruitment Process

A Multi-Stage Process Designed to Be Two-Way

Our recruitment process is designed to evaluate your capabilities and potential while giving you a genuine opportunity to assess whether CRA is the right fit for you. It typically begins with a telephone screen, followed by one or more rounds of interviews — which may include experience-based behavioural interviews, case interviews, and written or numeracy assessments depending on the role and level. For case interviews, we are looking for how you approach a problem: your logic, your comfort with limited information, and how clearly you communicate your thinking. For university hires, we attend campus recruiting events and host Widen Our Welcome (WOW) events where candidates can meet senior leaders and consultants directly. We encourage you to ask questions throughout — the best interviews are a genuine conversation, not a one-sided evaluation. Apply via our careers site at crai.com/cra-careers/jobs.

Diversity and Inclusion

Inclusion and Engagement as a Business Imperative

At CRA, inclusion and engagement are central to who we are — and we have been building them into our culture long before many organisations prioritised them. In 2021, we formalised this commitment by appointing our first Chief Inclusion and Engagement Officer, and our CEO joined a collective initiative to promote inclusion and collaboration in the workplace. We understand that fostering a dynamic and collaborative workplace is critical to delivering innovative solutions to our clients: by empowering our team members to bring their full range of perspectives and expertise to every engagement, we ensure CRA remains a trusted partner in addressing complex challenges. Our Employee Resource Groups — Women@CRA, OutLoud@CRA (LGBTQ+), Mosaic@CRA (cultural heritage), and PAC@CRA (parents and caregivers) — are open to all team members and provide professional growth, networking, and cultural awareness. Through our All-Access Initiative, we partner with organisations including the American Economic Association, KIPP Massachusetts, QuestBridge, and SEO London to offer internships, scholarships, and mentorships to high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds.
