About Us

Bringing Clarity to the Complex

Compass Lexecon was formed in January 2008 through the combination of Competition Policy Associates (COMPASS), founded in 2003, and Lexecon, founded in 1977 — making us one of the oldest and most storied names in economic consulting. Today, with more than 700 professionals across 25 offices on four continents, we are a truly global firm. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of FTI Consulting, Inc., and we operate with complete independence in our analytical work. Our clients — law firms, corporations, and government agencies — turn to us when the economic stakes are highest: in litigation, regulatory review, international arbitration, and strategic decision-making. For nearly five decades, we have pioneered the rigorous application of economics to complex legal and business questions.

Who we are

Economists. Experts. Trusted Advisors.

We are a team of economists, financial experts, and data scientists united by a common commitment: to deliver clear, powerful, and persuasive analysis that withstands the most intense scrutiny. Our people include former senior officials from the European Commission, national competition authorities, regulators, and academics from the world's top universities. What makes us distinctive is not just the depth of our knowledge — it's our ability to translate complex economic concepts into compelling, understandable arguments for judges, juries, regulators, and business leaders. At Compass Lexecon, intellectual rigour and practical insight are inseparable.

What we do

Independent Economic Analysis for the World's Hardest Questions

We provide independent, objective economic and financial analysis across a comprehensive range of practice areas — from antitrust and competition to intellectual property, international arbitration, securities litigation, valuation, and regulatory proceedings. Our experts advise both claimants and defendants, develop case strategies, prepare expert reports, and testify before courts, arbitration panels, and regulatory agencies worldwide. We have been involved in matters in more than 100 countries, and our innovative techniques have been applied in over 50% of Phase II European Commission merger cases over the last five years.

Our Purpose

Advancing the Role of Economics in Law and Business

We believe that critical economic issues — whether arising in litigation, regulatory review, strategic planning, or other corporate activities — are best understood when subjected to rigorous, situation-specific empirical analysis. Our purpose is to ensure that the best economic thinking informs the decisions that matter most: to our clients, to markets, and to society.

Our Values

What We Stand For

Intellectual rigour, independence, and clarity are at the core of everything we do. We are committed to developing thorough understanding of our clients' issues, grounding our analysis in relevant economic theory, and supporting our conclusions with solid, persuasive empirical evidence. We value diversity of thought and background — we are passionate about developing and supporting the next generation of women leaders to build a more diverse and inclusive firm.
