Data Analytics Solutions for Your Business

Your organization generates impressive amounts of data every day—and most of it remains hidden. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. If handled right, your data can reveal important facts, trends, and patterns that can provide valuable insights into your organization.

Our data analytics professionals at Forvis Mazars unlock the power of your data to help you enhance marketing strategies, develop competitive advantages, open up new revenue opportunities, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency. With a focus on tailoring data into timely, consumable information, our experienced analysts create powerful data visualizations that quickly and intuitively enable users to understand and analyze complex data sets.

Analyzing organizational data can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Learn how we can help focus your team's efforts, achieve quick results, and deliver impactful value.

How Forvis Mazars Can Help

Our artificial intelligence (AI) systems leverage cutting-edge and proprietary technologies to identify risk conditions, spot opportunities, and model uncertainty. Since organizations are so complex, standard linear analysis falls short. Our ability to perform AI-based detection, scenario analysis, and simulations that account for the true nature of an organization can generate insights not possible through standard analytics.

Corruption accounted for 50% of fraud cases in the ACFE 2022 Report to the Nations. Corruption is typically off the books, which makes detection and prevention a challenge. Combining structured analytics and unstructured data analysis, our Corruption Risk Analyzer can help identify high-risk vendors and employees in your organization.

Emails, text messages, and social media posts can speak volumes about the author’s emotional state. Detecting certain sentiments early on can help mitigate, and sometimes prevent, crises in your organization. Our emotional tone detection system and sentiment analysis services can be tremendously beneficial in investigations, litigation, and risk management.

Purchasing a company isn’t simple, and obstacles should be expected. Depending on the size, structure, and sophistication of the target, you may expect to find potential roadblocks related to the relevance, accessibility, and integrity of underlying financial data. Without a way to overcome these obstacles, the buyer risks erosion of investment value as a once potentially successful transaction veers off course. Our four-step process can help you navigate these obstacles. Key process features include:

  • Data Extraction—Our approach bypasses potential constraints by extracting data directly from your system.
  • Revenue & Cost Accumulation—With raw data in hand, we accumulate revenue and cost data and assign it to the underlying activities of the target, resulting in a more accurate picture of the target’s economic value.
  • Economic Understanding—After obtaining revenue and cost information, we create a new view of the target built upon cost-driving activities, not aggregate financial information. This leads to cross-sectional insight into profitability across different areas of your business.
  • Risk & Opportunity Identification—Our approach aims to identify risks and uncover opportunities. We do this by offering insight pre- and post-transaction by identifying various enhancement opportunities in profitability improvement, product line rationalization, and product volume and mix analysis.

The health and healthcare industry is flooded with data. However, data by itself is not information, and information without context is not actionable. Our proprietary analytics suite is built on Forvis Mazars’ broad industry knowledge and subject matter knowledge to proactively help provide our clients with the information they need before they need it.

Data analytics is one of the most effective anti-fraud controls, yet only a third of organizations use it. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners 2022 Report to the Nations, the median loss due to fraud in the 2,110 cases studied was $117,000. Losses range from small expense reimbursement fraud to asset misappropriation to multimillion-dollar corruption schemes. No matter what fraud scheme you’re facing, we have the solutions to address it.

With the prevalence of social media, it’s important to identify reputational risks before they become critical issues. Our reputational risk monitoring platform provides a mechanism to analyze happenings in the social media world and monitor the conversational tone about your organization online. We have the tools to help you mitigate threats before they become full-blown crises.

SOC & HITRUST Solutions

The ability to respond to clients’ requests efficiently and effectively regarding controls in place when services are provided has become paramount in today’s environment. Users expect assurances in today's outsourced, remote business environment. Boilerplate reports are no longer acceptable given the risks associated with third-party risk management. Our team of passionate people brings the knowledge and skills you need to help solve today's challenges.

Our dedicated team of experienced advisors has helped service organizations drive their business forward, refine their processes, enhance controls, and address various types of third-party assurance requests for decades. Forvis Mazars has a nationally dedicated SOC and HITRUST practice, with team members dedicated to serving clients throughout the U.S. We work with various industries, including technology, healthcare, insurance, financial services, supply chain logistics, REIT and property management, and others.

From preparing for a first System and Organization Controls (SOC) report or HITRUST assessment to having concerns about your existing information security program, Forvis Mazars is here to help you move with momentum. We’ll listen to understand, be responsive, and consult with a purpose—that’s our Unmatched Client Experience.

Help assess and report on the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.

SOC reporting has become the most widely accepted report on controls at subservice organizations, providing a value proposition that differentiates your organization from your competition.

We provide the following SOC examinations to help organizations assess and report on the design and operating effectiveness of their internal controls:

  • SOC Readiness Assessments
  • SOC 1, Type 1
  • SOC 1, Type 2
  • SOC 2, Type 1
  • SOC 2, Type 2
  • SOC 3
  • SOC for Cybersecurity
  • SOC for Supply Chain

Performing a SOC examination of a third-party service provider can help:

  • Deliver service providers' users with information on the internal control environment, including the operating effectiveness of controls affecting the users’ internal controls over financial reporting
  • Address a service provider’s users’ need to understand the internal controls at the service provider related to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and/or privacy
  • Aid the service provider’s users’ financial statement auditors to determine reliance on controls in place at the service provider
  • Eliminate the need for multiple customers to perform onsite audits
  • Satisfy a requirement by many companies that an audit of internal controls be in place at their service provider
  • Indicate to potential customers a service provider’s commitment to internal controls and transaction processing integrity
  • Identify improvement opportunities in operational areas at the service provider
  • Provide an additional marketing opportunity and competitive advantage over other service providers

Many clients serving the healthcare industry are required by partners, consumers, and other businesses to prove the security around the Protected Health Information (PHI) they receive, store, and use.

In healthcare, HITRUST is the best-in-class certification to highlight an organization’s strategic focus on information security and privacy.

Forvis Mazars offers various HITRUST services to help meet your organization’s needs:

  • HITRUST Essentials, 1-year (e1) Assessment: This assessment focuses on entry-level assurance for the most critical cybersecurity controls and verifies that cybersecurity protocols are in place.
  • HITRUST Implemented, 1-year (i1) Assessment: This assessment offers a moderate level of cybersecurity assurance focusing on the most current practices and broad-range active cyber threats compared to the e1 assessment.
  • HITRUST Readiness Assessment: This assessment helps evaluate how closely an organization’s control environment aligns with the HITRUST CSF. We provide Readiness Assessments to support i1 and r2 assessments. Our HITRUST Readiness Assessment Services help management identify the appropriate HITRUST assessment for the business and prepare the company for its HITRUST validation. Our team can provide training, education, samples, and guidance to help management understand the basis of the HITRUST report and the expectations when moving into the actual assessment work.
  • HITRUST Risk-Based, 2-year (r2) Assessment: This assessment results in two reports: the HITRUST CSF Validated Assessment Report and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework Report.

A letter of either validation or certification is also issued, based on the assessment’s scoring.

  • HITRUST Interim Assessment: This assessment is required to maintain certified reports and must be submitted no later than the first anniversary of the original certification.

HITRUST provides industry standardization to evaluate healthcare organizations and the security of their PHI.

HITRUST implementations can be challenging. Our assessors work closely with you to define a project plan divided into three critical phases: readiness, implementation, and reporting. Establishing a detailed project plan successfully assists organizations in efficiently meeting their compliance objectives.

By dividing the project into manageable phases, stakeholders can address the task at hand while also focusing on and maintaining daily operations. Touchpoints and communication throughout the process give opportunities for stakeholders and our professionals to make sure the project is moving along smoothly.

SNF Rate Calculator

Medicare Skilled Nursing Facility Reimbursement Rates Calculator. Compute your estimated Medicare per-diem rates for skilled nursing services paid under the Medicare prospective payment system with our SNF PPS rate calculator.

Part A

SNF Part A rates are effective October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.

Rates are based on the final rule published July 31, 2023. Technical corrections could be released resulting in further rate changes. Forvis Mazars will continue monitoring and updating rates as necessary.

We understand skilled nursing facility (SNF) payment rates are critical to your business operations. The Part A rate calculator reflects estimated SNF Medicare rates under the Patient-Driven Payment Model, including variable payments over a 100-day stay. Providers can view rates by location after entering their Medicare provider number, selecting a volume indicator for Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) adjustment, and indicating whether they are subject to the Quality Reporting Program (QRP) penalties. Please note the template does not include the 2% sequestration reduction.

Rates can be viewed for specific Health Insurance Prospective Payment System (HIPPS) codes calculated by each resident's Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessment, on the Rate Summary tab. The Rate Components tab reflects total rates for each case mix group.

For more information on rate changes, see this article on the July 31, 2023 fiscal year 2024 SNF Part A prospective payment system final rule.

Part B

SNF Part B rates are effective January 1, 2024 through February 29, 2024.

The Part B rate calculator includes commonly used therapy procedure codes that SNFs are paid for under the physician fee schedule.

Clari³ty® Solutions

This tool combines an interactive analytics platform with insightful analysis to identify challenges in your ability to drive change and help you make better data-driven decisions through evidence-based and validated diagnostics.

Research shows rising change in almost every industry—constantly challenging leaders and an evolving workforce. While organizations spend billions of dollars on strategies, initiatives, and projects designed to improve or grow their businesses, most of these initiatives fail to meet expectations—but why? The answer is biology. Our brains do not process change any quicker than they could decades ago. Despite how evolved we think we may be, when there’s a heavy volume of change, and we don’t have sufficient support to lean on, we get stuck.

Regardless of industry, the ability of groups, teams, and individuals to adapt and change their behaviors is critical to successfully implementing strategies and initiatives to keep organizations moving forward and ahead of their competition.

Forvis Mazars' Clari³ty® is a suite of services that include three distinct offerings that can be implemented standalone or in combination with each other. Clari³ty leverages today's latest research to challenge conventional thought and look beyond the surface to provide leaders and managers with the evidence-based perspectives required to enable a truly fact-based approach to change.

Through easy-to-use survey diagnostics, interactive dashboards, individual change response briefs, and group development opportunities, the three solutions within Clari³ty combine cutting-edge science and in-depth analysis.

Clari³ty provides leaders with the intelligence and insight they need to make a positive impact on their people in pursuit of their unique organizational goals and ambitions by helping them take the guesswork out of change.

When You Need Clari3ty

Bold strategic plans, focused performance improvement programs, or enterprise wide technology implementations all require organizations to drive strategies inclusive of operational and behavioral change. Clari3ty provides leaders with a clearer picture of the multifaceted needs of their people to help reduce change resistance and propel those strategies forward.

Not convinced? Any type of organizational or initiative-driven change will require leaders to be attuned to the needs of their employees. Otherwise, they risk failed strategic launch, disengaged employees, and wasted time or money. If you can’t answer yes to all three of these questions, then you need Clari3ty.

  • Do your employees feel heard and respected?
  • Are you measuring for more than just engagement levels?
  • Do you know the underlying causes of burnout in your organization?

Performance Improvement

Performance Improvement initiatives are the energy behind the margin improvement today's environment requires. Success with any of these initiatives requires people to modify their mindset and change their behavior. Clari³ty provides leaders with a change readiness perspective and the tactical management vision required to drive Performance Improvement initiatives.

Technology System Implementations

System upgrades and implementations are expensive—and achieving success requires users to modify their behaviors to use new or improved systems as designed. Clari³ty provides leaders with perspective into their people's change readiness and adoption needs, beyond basic training suggestions.

Post-Merger Integration

Mergers and acquisitions drive significant change, even with basic integration activities. Clari³ty identifies challenges to morale, motivation, and productivity that may delay success and further determines the mindset that will support effective integration.

The Reporting Solution

Financial Report Preparation & Support for Public Sector Entities.Streamline Your Financial Report Process.

As part of fulfilling their compliance requirements, governmental entities prepare audited financial documents, including Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR) or Annual Financial Reports. This process is often time-consuming, tedious, and error-prone. The Reporting Solution (TRS) can help!

Our web-based platform helps you dynamically build ACFRs in real time. TRS features database-linked financials and a collaborative document editor that allows multiple users to work in the platform simultaneously—helping streamline and simplify your annual reporting process.

Unlike traditional tools like Excel and Word that require you to stitch together various document types, manage versions, and share files back and forth, TRS users can potentially save significant time preparing the ACFR.

We’ve built this innovative platform on our extensive knowledge and experience from serving over 600 public sector clients. Now, you can leverage the same system we use to prepare financial reports for our clients! Ready to experience how TRS can help simplify your annual reporting process?

A Streamlined Preparation Process

Create your entire report using database-driven financial statements, an online word processor, and proprietary spreadsheet technology. Financial statement changes will update in real time across the report’s narrative. Multiple users can work simultaneously across the web-based platform. Export your report as a formatted .pdf or .docx file.

  • Simplify sharing and version control
  • Link amounts from documents, spreadsheets, and financial statements
  • Track report progress

Our platform allows you to maintain your data, adjustments, and financial groupings in one location. When you make changes to your financial statement data or upload a new trial balance, DataLinks automatically update throughout your spreadsheets and narrative sections.

In addition, TRS helps increase transparency, providing line-item details and allowing you to see your data, adjustments, and groupings. Share this data with your auditors to help streamline your audit process.

Backed By GASB Experience

Forvis Mazars has numerous clients who participate in the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (COA) Program and several team members who serve on GFOA’s Special Review Committee, which allows our professionals to have first-hand insight and knowledge of GFOA’s requirements to obtain the award. In addition, our professionals can share best practices gained from reviewing reports submitted to GFOA’s COA Program.

We also can offer a review of an entity’s ACFR, help resolve identified discrepancies, and help reduce exceptions when reports are returned and submitted to GFOA for the COA Program.

Denials Management Monitoring

Denials Performance Through Data Analytics in Healthcare. Our tool can help reduce revenue loss and collection rework costs from insurance denials. The platform provides actionable data that allows for root-cause analysis and an effective denials prevention strategy.

In our experience, organizations frequently have initial claim denial rates of 10% or more. Rework expenses from preventable denials are costly, and write-offs associated with denied claims can cost an organization 3% or more of its annual net revenue, significantly impacting the ability to reinvest in patient care. Do you know your organization’s denial rate?

It is critical to address denials proactively. Our reporting and measurement tools help organizations understand their denials performance, write off expenses, establish a data-informed prevention strategy, and get started quickly with a versatile, agile tool.

Help Improve Denial Rates

Our tool is structured to help your organization avoid and prevent revenue loss from insurance denials. The tool provides the ability to monitor, measure, and benchmark your denial performance trends at an organizational level and for specific locations, departments, services, and denial types. It allows for data mining and claim-level detail to assist your organization in uncovering and resolving root-cause issues driving denials. In addition, this tool helps guide your revenue cycle and process improvement teams so they can focus on issues having the largest impact on your organization.

Help Improve Staff Efficiency

Insurance denials can be overturned but often require extensive rework, clinical knowledge, and significant operational labor costs in order to resolve successfully. Our tool is designed to provide visibility and help your organization uncover and resolve high-volume denial trends that are leading to considerable rework costs for your organization.

Help Improve Patient Experience

Insurance denials can and do impact the patient experience, whether through requiring the patient to navigate and participate in a lengthy and complex appeal process or receiving an unexpected bill for a service the patient thought would be covered. Our analytics tool can help organizations identify and reduce denials that may ultimately be impacting the patient experience at your organization.

Gain Confidence in Your Data

We have experience guiding many institutions through the process of extracting and structuring their data. Our higher education professionals can help guide you through the data gathering process to build a solid foundation for your PEA dashboards, allowing you and your stakeholders to be confident in the insights gained with PEA.

Invest in the Right Programs

The reports and dashboards in PEA can help your institution understand which programs are making money and which are not. This can help uncover misalignment of budgets and outcomes, allowing you to strategically and impactfully invest your institution's dollars.

Our Quadrant View dashboard highlights programs with low enrollment and margins and is only one of many valuable reports that can help you take a data-informed approach to decision making.

Maintain Financial Stability

Higher education continues to face rapid change and growing competition, but financial sustainability can be achieved by taking proactive measures. PEA can help equip you to make crucial decisions by giving you insights that allow you to refine class sizes, course frequency, mix of on-campus and virtual offerings, and other operational efficiencies that can lead to an economically effective program portfolio.

TaxCred PRO™ for Clean Energy

Learn about the clean energy tax credits and deductions you or your business may be eligible for and how much tax benefit you potentially could receive.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) contains many clean energy tax provisions, each with nuances that impact what you may qualify for and how much benefit you or your business can potentially receive. Avoid spending significant time researching every aspect of the IRA, and get started with TaxCred PRO for Clean Energy from Forvis Mazars.

TaxCred PRO can help you discover IRA tax credits related to clean energy initiatives such as:

  • Solar & wind
  • Construction & renovation
  • New & used EV purchases (& charging stations)
  • Manufacturing of clean energy property
  • Alternative fuels
  • Carbon sequestration
  • Energy production

User-Friendly Clean Energy Questionnaire

TaxCred PRO walks you through IRA discovery with a questionnaire, collecting details about your current or future clean energy initiatives and investments. The questionnaire also provides an option to connect with a Forvis Mazars advisor.

Customized Educational Report

Once the questionnaire is complete, TaxCred PRO delivers a customized educational report outlining some of the specific tax credits and deductions that may be relevant, with a range of potential benefits given your responses in the questionnaire.

IRA Clean Energy Tax Consulting

Empower your clean energy initiatives with a four-phased approach driven by our IRA consulting team.

Discovery: Evaluate your eligibility for potential federal IRA credits and deductions. Based on the project’s specifications, Forvis Mazars can provide a listing of potentially eligible credits, the estimated credit amount, and the available bonus credit opportunities.

Modeling: Model the economic benefits and costs of pursuing potential clean energy credits. Whether determining which credit option to pursue, deciphering what entity structure is most beneficial, or deciding to transfer credits or elect direct pay, the modeling process can help you understand the internal rate of return on your projects, given various dynamic decision points.

Implementation: The prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PWA) requirements could result in an available credit at five times the otherwise eligible base credit amount. The implementation phase can help you plan for and track compliance, while also defending your PWA bonus credit by accumulating and analyzing the requisite labor information for your project.

Claim: Forvis Mazars can help with the process of claiming the IRA credits, and transferring or electing direct pay for your credits, if applicable. We can help with analyzing contracts, pre-registering with the IRS, or including the requisite disclosures on your tax return. More generally, Forvis Mazars can offer guidance on how to report the credits on the needed forms and schedules on your tax returns so you can utilize the IRA credits available to you.
