About Us

Together, Building Better Futures

Hymans Robertson is an independent partnership with over a century of history, helping to build better financial futures for millions of people across the UK. We provide services to organisations and individuals across pensions, investments and digital technology, operating from four UK offices in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh. With more than 1,400 experts and 90+ partners, we combine deep technical knowledge with a genuinely collaborative approach — one built on trust that has kept our very first private sector client with us since 1947. Our clients include FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, privately owned firms, employers, pension providers, banks, independent financial advisers and leading public sector bodies. We are a proud certified B Corporation, part of a global community of thousands of purpose-driven businesses striving to use commerce as a force for good. Being a B Corp is not just a badge for us — it is a framework for continuous improvement and a signal of the commitment we make to our clients, our people and wider society.

Who we are

An Independent Partnership, Free to Do What Is Right

We are a partnership — in structure, in mindset and in the relationships we build with our clients. That independence is fundamental to who we are. Because we answer to no external shareholders, we are free to give advice that is genuinely in our clients' best interests, not shaped by commercial pressures elsewhere. A complex world needs diverse thinkers who are not afraid to challenge the norm, and that is exactly what our 1,400+ people bring to the table every day. We are friendly, straightforward, confident and deeply committed to partnering for the long term. We pride ourselves on being thought leaders — constantly engaging with the issues facing our industry and sharing what we find. We are also constantly striving for better: better technology, better ways of working, better outcomes for the people whose retirements, investments and financial wellbeing we help to shape. Working with us is easy. We are in it for the long term. And the advice we give is decisive and purposeful.

What we do

Pensions, Investments and Digital — Joined Up, Always Human

We provide services to organisations and individuals across three interconnected disciplines: pensions and benefits, investment, and digital and technology. On the pensions and benefits side, we advise across defined benefit, defined contribution and public sector schemes — covering everything from DB actuarial services, governance, risk transfer and pensions administration to DC trustee and corporate consulting, CDC, and specialist advice for the Local Government Pension Scheme. Our investment work spans DB and DC investment consulting, LGPS investment strategy, responsible investment, stewardship, and our own Hymans Engage asset manager engagement programme. Through our digital and technology services, we apply data science and innovation to help clients make smarter, data-driven decisions — through platforms such as Frontier, PRISM, our Economic Scenario Service and outcomes-based modelling APIs. Across everything we do, the ambition is the same: to help our clients make complex decisions that have a real, direct impact on people's lives, both today and for generations to come.

Our Purpose

Together, Building Better Futures

Together, building better futures is our purpose. It is the reason we exist and it sits at the heart of everything we do. It means building better financial futures by helping our clients make complex decisions that directly affect people's lives. It means creating more equitable futures for our own people and communities, so everyone can reach their full potential and thrive. And it means shaping a sustainable future — now and for generations to come. Our purpose is amplified by our B Corp certification, which places us within a global community of thousands of other purpose-led organisations, all working together to transform the global economy for the benefit of people, communities and the planet. Whether it is the advice we give, the technology we build, the way we treat our colleagues, or the 2% of pre-tax profits we donate each year to the Hymans Robertson Foundation, our purpose is not something we simply declare — it is something we live.

Our Values

The Things That Unite Us

Our values — friendly, straightforward, partnering and confident — are the things that unite our team and guide how we show up for our clients, our colleagues and our communities. In essence, that means we care. Being friendly means we build genuine relationships and create an environment where people feel welcomed and valued. Being straightforward means working with us is easy and the advice we give is clear, honest and direct. Partnering means we are in it for the long term — building trusted relationships founded on a deep understanding of our clients' needs. Being confident means our services are decisive and purposeful: we are not afraid to challenge the norm in pursuit of better outcomes. Together, these values help us do the right thing, live up to our own high expectations and build better futures alongside the clients and partners we work with.

Why working with us

Exceptional Client Service, Independently Delivered

Our independence sets the foundation for everything, but it is our relationships that make the difference. We are committed to delivering an exceptional standard of service to every client we work with — and we do not just claim that; we measure it. Our annual Voice of Client programme gives every client the opportunity to share honest feedback, and the results speak for themselves: 96% would recommend us, 97% rate us highly for our work, and 98% say we take the time to get to know them. Alongside Voice of Client, our Guardian Partner programme sees an independent senior partner carry out direct client reviews, and we seek structured feedback at the end of every project. We are constantly learning, constantly improving and constantly striving for better. We bring over a century of experience, more than 1,400 dedicated experts, recognised thought leadership and the freedom that comes with being truly independent — and we back it all with a consistent, collaborative approach that keeps clients with us for decades.

Sustainability

Building a More Sustainable Future, Starting Today

Building a more sustainable future is not an aspiration for us — it is a commitment we are actively delivering on. Since 2020, we have reduced our core carbon footprint by 38%, from 1,988 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, and our carbon emissions per person have dropped by more than 60%. We are now setting new targets through a science-based carbon reduction plan, and we work with our people, clients, customers and suppliers to help reduce emissions across the board. As a certified B Corporation, we are assessed against rigorous social and environmental standards, and we are proud signatories to the Better Business Act campaign, which seeks to embed stakeholder accountability into UK company law. Our responsible investment work extends our sustainability commitment into the portfolios we advise on — acting as a catalyst for positive change in an uncertain world. We believe that being a socially responsible business and delivering exceptional client outcomes are not in tension; they reinforce each other.

Community & Impact

Purpose With Impact — Beyond Our Firm

We believe business has a responsibility to make a positive difference in the communities it operates in, and we take that responsibility seriously. The Hymans Robertson Foundation is an independent registered charity we established in 2016. Each year, we donate 2% of pre-tax profits to support it, funding projects that improve the financial futures of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and investing in local community initiatives that improve lives. In the most recent year, the Foundation distributed £164,000 in grant funding, directly supporting more than 2,175 young people. Our people play an active role too — each colleague receives 21 hours of paid volunteering leave every year, and our Helping Hands teams coordinate volunteering days and fundraising activities across our four offices. We also provide matched funding for individual and team fundraising, adding more than £23,000 in donations over the past year. Together, our people have logged over 2,700 volunteering hours — because our purpose does not stop at our office doors.

Inclusion & Diversity

Difference Is Strength

We believe diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to building better futures — for our colleagues, our clients and our communities. Better outcomes start with better decisions, and better decisions come from teams where different perspectives, skills and experiences are genuinely welcomed, heard and valued. Our vision is to build an inclusive and equitable environment where every colleague can thrive, enabling exceptional and innovative service for clients and supporting communities through collective progress. DEI is recognised as a strategic imperative at Hymans Robertson, with oversight from our Management and Oversight Boards and DEI objectives embedded into personal development plans across the business. We work in partnership with external organisations to educate, assess and guide our progress, and our internal community groups provide social and support spaces, celebration and open conversation for their communities. We set ten-year representation ambitions in 2019 and met them four years early. Our ambitions for 2035 include increasing representation across disability, gender, LGBTQ+, social progression and underrepresented ethnic groups, halving the gender pay gap by 2029 from 2017 levels, and improving diversity of leadership. We are always learning — and we are committed to going further.

Awards & Accreditations

Recognised Across the Industry, Driven by Our Clients

We are proud to be one of the most decorated consultancies in our field, but industry recognition is the result of doing right by our clients — not a goal in itself. At the Professional Pensions UK Pensions Awards 2026, we were honoured with four awards: Actuarial/Pensions Consultancy of the Year, D... See more
