Global experience provides an opportunity to cultivate valuable skills and attributes for addressing our clients’ needs, such as a broader mindset, cultural sensitivity, emotional resilience, or an ability to manage complexity or build relationships.
These skills are especially developed when working in other regions. Consultants and management services colleagues have transferred to another office location in more than 20 countries. Good to know
A guide to your interview
Our interview process has been carefully crafted to get an idea of who you are and how you think.
First rounds consist of behavioral interviews and case interviews. Your final interview's structure depends on the position you’re applying for: undergraduates applying for the business analyst role will experience additional behavioral and case interviews, while MBAs and experienced hires may also have a case presentation.
Why does Kearney use those two formats?
The simple answer: It’s helped us identify generations of incredible employees—it’s fine-tuned like a Swiss watch.
The long answer: Kearney interviews blend behavioral and case interviews to best assess your analytical skills and the way you approach a problem. This unique combo also helps determine how you might react in a variety of situations on the client site and in our offices. We want to make sure you will be just as happy and confident in your abilities working here as we will.
So how do I ace this?
We believe in the true, raw power that comes with simply being yourself. Our founder, Tom Kearney, valued authenticity as an essential trait and 90 years later, it’s still just as important. Treat your interview like you’re pitching to a big client and you’ll do great. Remember, we just want to see you succeed!
Let’s break down the two interview types a little further.
The behavioral interview: This interview gathers information on your past behavior and performance in order to evaluate and predict your future success with us. Think of it as a more traditional, get-to-know-you conversation.
You’ll tell us about the setting, explain the interpersonal dynamics present in your situation, and share external influences that impacted your decision. While no one is expecting you to win an Oscar for your performance, we do want to be able to imagine ourselves there. Paint the picture for your interviewer—use colorful language to bring your examples to life.
Make sure that at the conclusion of your example the interviewer knows why that decision was made and feels that he or she would have done the same thing.
The case interview: Our case interviews ask you to provide a solution to a new challenge.
Problem solving will be a pretty key part of your work and we need to understand how you think and approach some real-world, less-than-perfect circumstances.
Most importantly, don’t fake it! We’re more interested in the solution that you truly believe is best, not the one you think we want to hear.
Diversity and Inclusion
DEI
We boldly champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, unlocking the power of our differences to drive collective success.
Together we are building a culture where everyone is not only heard but celebrated; a safe and empowering environment in which everyone can fully belong, contribute, and thrive with their unique perspectives.
Kearney is working to achieve this with commitments across five main pillars. With strong intent and action in these areas, we continue to shift our numbers and our culture:
Market-leading representation
We will collaborate business-wide to achieve our aspirations for diversity and representation.
Relentless inclusion
We will ensure our systems, tools, and processes promote “everyday” inclusion, helping to shape behaviors that reduce exclusion and influence belonging.
Bold champions
We will nurture a global community of inclusion allies that help to realize our DEI vision.
World-class networks
We will build our networks to create community and support for all.
Recognized leadership
We will maintain our reputation as a leader in DEI excellence.
Social justice and racial equity
We work with our own people, our clients, and our communities on a range of topics, including social and racial justice.
Commitments
Since 2020, we have been working with our own people, our clients, and our communities, and we have supported key initiatives in the Americas and in our other regions. As we reflect on our progress, we acknowledge both successes and areas where we can do more.
In terms of our people, we have doubled our representation of Black leaders in the Americas and have introduced several measures, such as scholarships and recruitment bootcamps, to deepen our diverse talent pipeline. Globally, we completed ~930 Days of Action to pursue social justice, inclusion, and racial equity work in 2023 alone. Inspired by the action taken in the Americas, we launched a new learning program in all regions in partnership with external advisors. These trainings were catered to regional nuances, including topics such as disability etiquette, anti-racism, and allyship.
With our clients and other stakeholders in the community, we continue to share our experiences, learnings, and DEI education, including sponsoring chief diversity officer roundtables. We have also collaborated on pro bono projects across all of our regions. Notably, the Americas has doubled pro bono work related to racial equity and social justice, Europe conducted more than 60 pro bono projects, and the Middle East and Africa dedicated more than 200 pro bono hours between 2020 and 2023.
Looking forward, our focus remains on cultivating relationships, allocating resources to DEI training, supporting social and racial justice causes, increasing representation by minority leaders, and prioritizing equitable pathways for success.
