About Us

Built for the Technology-Native Era

Founded in 2003 on the belief that the world needed a technology-native advisory firm, Keystone was created to protect and create value around transformative innovations — from early machine-learning techniques to today's advanced AI systems. With roots in Boston and San Francisco, the firm has grown into a global platform with offices in New York, Seattle, London, Washington D.C., and Dubai, serving Fortune Global 500 companies, leading law firms, government agencies, and private equity. In January 2026, Keystone announced a strategic investment and partnership with Audax Private Equity, marking a new chapter of disciplined global growth. Today, the firm is trusted by clients like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Goldman Sachs, Amgen, and Oracle — organizations navigating the highest-stakes inflection points in the digital economy.

Who we are

A Triad Like No Other

Keystone is made up of economists, senior technologists from the world's largest technology companies, former government agency leaders, and management consultants from top MBA programs and leading professional services firms. Our Triad of Skills — which evenly balances Keystone Economists, Keystone Strategy advisors, and Keystone Advanced Technology Services (K.ATS) — is what makes us structurally different from every other advisory firm. Our 50+ PhD and Masters-level economists are guided by Chief Scientific Advisor Dr. Susan Athey, former Chief Economist of the DOJ Antitrust Division and a John Bates Clark Medal winner. Our ~50-strong K.ATS team of computer scientists, data scientists, and engineers is capable of ingesting and analyzing over 100TB of confidential data and source code from the world's largest platforms. And our affiliate Expert Field — academics, former regulators, and industry leaders from Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and beyond — extends our reach to virtually any domain our clients face.

What we do

Economic, Technology & Strategic Advisory — Powered by the Triad

We advise organizations on the economic, strategic, and regulatory consequences of technology and ecosystem competition. Across eight practice areas — Antitrust & Competition, Financial Economics, Tax & Securities (FETS), Intellectual Property (IP), Information Strategy, Risk & Regulation (ISRR), Healthcare & Life Sciences, Technical Investigations, Behavioral Insights, and AI Strategy Consulting — our interdisciplinary teams build robust data and technology solutions, conduct advanced econometric and algorithmic analyses, and produce expert reports that win cases and shape policy. Our AI Navigator offering, led by Partner Jen Stave, turns AI ambition into scalable enterprise transformation for C-Suite leaders worldwide. Whether supporting landmark antitrust litigation, conducting merger reviews across the U.S., UK, and Europe, auditing AI systems for fairness and bias, or advising on digital regulation under the DMA and DMCC, Keystone brings transformative ideas to every engagement.

Our Purpose

Transformative Ideas. Uncommon Service.

Keystone was built on a conviction: the world needed a technology-native firm capable of bringing rigorous, interdisciplinary intelligence to the most consequential decisions facing modern organizations. From the Microsoft antitrust case of 2003 to the DOJ's landmark action against Google, from Oracle v. Google at the Supreme Court to Epic v. Google reshaping mobile platform economics, Keystone has been ground zero for every major technology shift of the past two decades. Our purpose is not simply to solve problems, but to bring transformative ideas to life — protecting and creating value for our clients while helping shape how markets, regulators, and societies understand the technologies that are rewriting the rules of competition. We care about making the world a better place, and we do the work to prove it.

Our Values

The Principles That Let Us Do Great Things

Our principles are at the core of everything we do at Keystone. They create a culture that enables us to Do Great Things and deliver Uncommon Service every day. Genuine Insight drives us to produce honest, clear, and concise work. Extraordinary Impact means we exceed expectations to surprise and delight. Passion inspires others through excellence. Creativity challenges assumptions and finds new solutions. A Thirst for Knowledge means we listen closely and never stop learning. Judgment asks us to question inconsistency while assuming the best. Humility means we avoid pretense, admit mistakes, and happily accept feedback. Selflessness keeps collaboration above individual ambition. And Entrepreneurship means we solve problems — no matter what.

Why working with us

Ground Zero for Every Technology Shift

From Web 1.0 and mobile to cloud, machine learning, and generative AI, Keystone has been at the center of every defining technology moment since 2003. Our Triad of Skills — evenly balancing technologists, economists, and management scientists — creates an interdisciplinary depth that no traditional consulting or law firm can match. We maintain an unparalleled Expert Field of academics, former senior regulators, and industry veterans from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and the DOJ, ready to engage at the frontier of any matter. Our K.ATS team holds secure, cleanroom-grade infrastructure capable of analyzing the world's most sensitive codebases and datasets. Our economists apply AI and machine learning to produce sophisticated econometric analyses that win in court. And our AI Navigator offering delivers board-ready AI strategy grounded in frontier research, not hype. When the stakes are highest — in litigation, in regulation, in strategic transformation — clients trust Keystone because we have been there before.

Community & Impact

Impact Beyond the Boardroom

Keystone's commitment to impact extends well beyond the work we do for corporate clients. Our team and Expert Field helped deliver justice for George Floyd in the State of Minnesota v. Derek Michael Chauvin, applying our analytical capabilities to one of the most consequential cases in recent American history. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Keystone partnered with Susan Athey and Marco Iansiti to build and freely release a comprehensive, county-level dataset of Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions that was used by 19 published academic studies and policymakers worldwide. We have supported the Center for Women & Enterprise to help women entrepreneurs access certifications, networks, and supplier opportunities. Keystone's KeystoneNext alumni program fosters a lifelong community of learning and connection — a platform model applied to our own people — keeping current and former team members in a mutually enriching ecosystem for life. And a founding board member co-created a multidisciplinary institute at Université de Montréal focused on ESG and the governance of AI.

Inclusion & Diversity

Diversity as a Business Strategy

At Keystone, diversity and inclusion are not a tagline — they are a core component of who we are and how we work. Over the last decade, we have set out to build diverse teams at every level of the firm through recruiting, internal mentorship programs, and structured development plans. We named our first female partner in 2018 and our first Indian-born partner the same year, milestones that reflect a deliberate commitment to building diverse leadership pipelines. We have been publicly recognized for our performance on diversity across multiple Vault Consulting rankings. Our careers page calls explicitly for a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and meaningful impact, and we host ongoing programs — including a webinar series on Diversity as a Business Strategy — to translate those values into practice. We recognize that transformative ideas are more prevalent and possible when we leverage diverse teams, and our track record of innovation reflects that belief.
