About Us

By Your Side, When It Matters Most

The Berkeley Partnership is a management consultancy founded in London in 1990, with offices in London and New York. For more than three decades we have helped organisations — from FTSE 100 corporations and global financial institutions to public bodies and growth businesses on both sides of the Atlantic — navigate the most complex, challenging and high-stakes moments of transformation. We offer a genuinely different approach to management consulting: small teams of highly experienced consultants who embed themselves as an extension of our clients' leadership teams, binding together stakeholders and driving change across the organisation. There are no off-the-shelf solutions here. We tailor everything we do to each client's unique circumstances, and we remain focused on outcomes — not the minutiae of a contract. Our approach has built something rare in this industry: long-term, high-trust relationships that sustain the heart of our business. Over 90% of our work comes from repeat business and referrals, and more than 85% of our clients have worked with us more than once. That is the measure of what it means to be by your side when it matters most.

Who we are

High-Calibre People, Built on a Different Blueprint

Berkeley was founded in 1990 by four partners who wanted to create a new kind of management consultancy — one built around high-calibre, intellectually curious and emotionally intelligent people who could think, act and lead flexibly and decisively. The idea was simple but radical: free consultants from sales targets entirely, so they could focus solely on what was best for the client. Structure the partnership collaboratively, to ensure the right people were always deployed to deliver the best client outcomes. Though much has changed over more than thirty years, those founding principles remain exactly as they were. Our people are seasoned problem-solvers who work through challenges rather than around them. They bring fresh perspective, rigour, constructive challenge and genuine creativity to every engagement. They are also active members of the Berkeley community long after individual assignments end — Berkeley alumni remain friends, collaborators, and sometimes become clients too. It is this combination of intellectual depth, emotional intelligence and enduring commitment that defines who we are.

What we do

Bridging the Gap Between Strategy and Ambition

We help our clients deliver outcomes under the most complex, high-stakes circumstances, bridging the gap between strategy and ambition. Our work spans the full spectrum of transformational change: from shaping business strategy and designing target operating models, to leading major technology programmes, delivering digital, data and AI transformation, managing mergers and acquisitions, and assuring the success of programmes already under way. We offer whatever level of support a client needs — whether that means being embedded on the ground for an extended period, providing expert guidance through a critical phase, or offering sharp, to-the-point challenge and advice. In every case, we work as an extension of the client's leadership team, creating bridges across the organisation, aligning stakeholders, and building the shared understanding that underpins the most successful transformations. The Berkeley blueprint focuses on what really matters: creating strategies and delivering programmes that leave a lasting legacy, and better position our clients' organisations to meet future challenges head on.

Our Purpose

A Lasting Legacy, Not Just a Delivered Project

Our purpose is to help organisations achieve their ambitions — transforming under the most complex, challenging and high-stakes circumstances and coming out stronger for it. We believe transformation should make a tangible, enduring difference: not just a project completed and a team departed, but a lasting legacy that better positions our clients' people and organisations to face whatever comes next. That conviction shapes everything we do. We are not interested in the minutiae of a contract or in sweeping problems under the carpet — our consultants work through challenges with clients, honestly and constructively, because the only agenda that matters to us is the client's agenda. It is why we never set sales targets for our consultants or partners, and why we measure success by the quality of our work and the feedback of our clients. At every step of the transformation journey, we are by our clients' side. That is both our purpose and our promise.

Our Values

Positive Energy, Rigour and Simplicity

Our values are the same today as they were when Berkeley was founded: positive energy, rigour and simplicity. These are not words on a wall — they are the qualities we look for in every person we bring into the firm, and the standard we hold ourselves to in every client engagement. We value intellectual curiosity and the confidence to challenge constructively, ensuring we stretch ourselves at every opportunity and bring our best selves to both our work and each other. We believe in a warm, respectful and open culture of belonging in which everyone can fulfil their potential. We encourage fresh thinking and diversity of background and perspective, because we know that richness of thought makes our work better. And we are collaborative to the core — not just within Berkeley, but with our clients and our alumni, with whom we maintain long-lasting, high-trust relationships that endure long after any individual engagement has ended.

Why working with us

A Different, Specialist Approach — Focused on Your Outcomes

Working with Berkeley means working with a firm that is genuinely structured around your success. We deploy small teams of highly experienced consultants into key roles within your business — you will not be overwhelmed by numbers, and you will not wait months to see results. Because we have no sales or utilisation targets, our people are incentivised solely on the quality of their work and your feedback. That means our time and attention are squarely focused on doing the right thing for you, not on billing hours or upselling the next phase. We adapt our approach at speed, tailoring everything to your unique circumstances. We work as an extension of your leadership team, binding together stakeholders and driving cross-organisation activity with pace and purpose. We bring a fresh perspective, constructive challenge and genuine creativity to every problem — and we are not afraid to tell you something you may not want to hear, because impartial, honest advice is what drives lasting results. Over 90% of our work comes from repeat business and referrals. That is not a coincidence; it is the outcome of a model built entirely around client success.

Sustainability

Committed to Our Journey to Net Zero

Sustainability is not a reporting obligation for us — it is a core part of our own business strategy and something we believe is essential for our long-term success as a firm. Berkeley is committed to its journey to net zero. We comprehensively measure our carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and seek independent validation annually through our partnership with ClimatePartner. We have set science-based targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are delivering an ambitious reduction strategy, with a particular focus on travel-related emissions — the largest component of our footprint — and on extending the lifecycle of our IT equipment to reduce production-related carbon. Where emissions cannot yet be eliminated, we invest in a portfolio of certified carbon offset projects chosen by our own people: from sustainable forest management in Brazil and Colombia and indigenous forest protection in South America, to clean water access in Eritrea and ocean plastic reduction across Haiti, Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines. Two partners sponsor our sustainability programme, and a firm-wide working group drives action across five dedicated workstreams. As experienced transformation specialists, we also help our clients achieve their own sustainability ambitions.

Community & Impact

Empowering Our People to Help Their Communities Flourish

We all have different interests and causes we want to support beyond our day-to-day work, and Berkeley is committed to enabling that. We provide a Give as You Earn scheme open to everyone in the firm, and we bring genuine spirit and energy to our fundraising — from Tough Mudder events and the Three Peaks Challenge, to the 'Berkeley Beatles' performing fundraising concerts and evenings of 'Through the Keyhole' raising money for charities in the UK and US. Our commitment goes deeper than fundraising. We provide pro-bono consulting support to organisations creating real social impact: we have helped Comic Relief shape its strategy and design its target operating model; supported the House of St. Barnabas in its work helping London's homeless people into employment since 2006; assisted Toast Ale with systems to support its mission of fighting food waste; partnered with UK Youth since 2009 on strategy, organisational design and executive coaching; undertaken pro-bono coaching with Robin Hood in New York City to strengthen leadership within non-profits fighting urban poverty; and supported the HeadStart employability programme with mock interview preparation for young people. For us, community is not a programme — it is part of who we are.

Inclusion & Diversity

Attracting, Developing and Retaining Diverse Talent

Our vision for diversity, equity and inclusion is clear: to be recognised as a firm that attracts, develops and retains diverse talent, where differences are genuinely harnessed, opportunity is equitable, and where people feel safe to be their whole self. We aim to foster a warm, open culture of belonging that enables our people to fulfil their potential, no matter their background, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexuality, disability or working style. We know this is a journey, and we are honest about where we are on it. Our DE&I programme is partner-led and driven by a dedicated DE&I leader, a working group that meets fortnightly, and sub-groups focused on specific areas of ongoing effort. We have launched regular DE&I surveys so our people can shape the decisions we make; delivered training in Unconscious Bias and Inclusive Leadership; offered Women's Leadership Development Training; and reviewed our recruitment approach to ensure accessibility and inclusivity. We are committed to increasing diversity not only in our consulting group but in our leadership and partner group — and we understand that our organic, promote-from-within model means we must be patient, intentional and consistent. We are absolutely committed to making that change, because we believe a more diverse team builds richer, more effective work for our clients and a better firm for all of us.
