Working with us
A Culture Built on Care and Collaboration
BCG frames its culture around “BCG UP” (Unlocking Potential), integrating Diversity, Inclusion, Mental Health, and Wellbeing to create an environment where employees feel respected and supported. Lee Yuseon, an Office Operations Senior Manager with 20+ years at the firm, says: “BCG creates a positive, caring work environment. The people here are why I've stayed 20+ years.”
People and Culture Come First
Ryan Bolt, a Global IT Software Engineer Director, describes a firm that “lives its values, genuinely cares about people, and regularly recognizes contributions” — “I feel valued and part of a close-knit team, not just a number.” Niti Nandwani, a Change, Marketing & Communications Director, adds that “people and culture are the top reason to join BCG,” citing respect, care, and a safe, authentic space to work.
Why joining us
More Than a Career Move
BCG positions a move to the firm as an opportunity to “shape what comes next” — strengthening expertise, exploring new industries, and growing as a leader. The firm backs this with flexible work options, mental health resources, tailored mentorship and training, and a culture built on collaboration and innovation, all in service of tackling genuinely complex client challenges.
Turn Your Interests Into Impact
One BCG partner describes being “encouraged to pursue ideas that matter to you,” turning a personal interest in additive manufacturing into meaningful client impact. Another highlights the value of continuity: “working with the same clients over time lets you see the impact of your work firsthand.”
Career path
Flexible Progression Across Roles and Geographies
At BCG, there is no single prescribed career trajectory. Employees are encouraged to shape a path that reflects their individual interests, strengths, and ambitions — whether that means deepening expertise in a particular area, switching between consulting and non-consulting functions, or relocating to a different office globally.
From day one, BCGers take on meaningful work and grow through hands-on experience, mentorship, and structured development. Coaching and feedback are provided throughout to help employees make informed decisions about their next steps, and many BCGers have experienced diverse roles across consulting and business services teams over the course of their careers.
Career Growth Beyond BCG
BCG's investment in its people does not end when they leave the firm. Alumni become part of a global network of over 42,000 former BCGers spanning industries and geographies, with access to dedicated events, career services, and peer guidance. BCG is ranked #1 by Comparably for best companies for career growth.
The firm explicitly positions careers here as a foundation for long-term success — whether employees continue to advance internally toward Partner or Managing Director level, or pursue opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, higher education, or corporate leadership.
Training
Continuous Learning Built Into Daily Work
Learning at BCG is woven into everyday experience rather than treated as a separate activity. Employees have access to a broad range of resources including formal training programs, online learning modules, and hands-on casework designed to build both core consulting capabilities and emerging skills such as AI and data science.
BCG's apprenticeship culture means that much of the professional development happens through real client challenges — working alongside colleagues with different perspectives, taking on increasing responsibility, and building judgment over time. The firm also provides GenAI training, global masterclasses, and immersive programs aimed at developing future-ready skills for all employees across roles.
AI Academy and GenAI Enablement
BCG has given all of its approximately 33,500 employees access to a suite of AI tools, with a strong emphasis on personal exploration and responsible use. Programs such as the AI Academy support employees in building AI fluency regardless of their primary role, whether they are building AI solutions directly or using AI to amplify their everyday impact.
The firm's GenAI Enablement Network connects employees interested in advancing their generative AI capabilities, and BCG reports that 81% of its staff say AI helps them generate more value in their work, while 73% find their work more enjoyable as a result.
What we are looking for
The Qualities We Look For
BCG seeks professionals who bring “unique experiences and perspectives” that help the firm “see possibilities differently, think creatively, and deliver meaningful change.” The firm specifically values people who can “spot trends, advise senior leaders, cut fresh tracks, and move quickly and creatively to find storylines in data sets that make the world better.”
Beyond Day-to-Day Execution
BCG emphasizes that the people who thrive here are those ready to “move beyond day-to-day execution to create real change” through analytical, system-level thinking — a mindset the firm looks for across both experienced hires and early-career candidates alike.
Recruitment Process
Four-Step Application and Selection Process
BCG's consulting recruitment process follows four clear steps. First, candidates submit an application through the BCG careers portal by clicking "Apply" and creating or logging into their candidate profile — a profile that only needs to be set up once and can be reused for future roles. Second, shortlisted candidates are invited to a skills interview to discuss their experience, motivations, and background beyond the resume.
Third, for client-facing roles, candidates progress to a case interview assessing problem-solving and analytical thinking. Fourth, a team interview evaluates problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills together. Candidates can track the status of their applications at any time through the "My Applications" section of their candidate profile, which also shows upcoming interviews and events.
Campus and Internship Pathways
BCG actively recruits at colleges and universities worldwide across multiple countries including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, and Mexico. Campus-specific application windows, events, and deadlines are published on BCG's on-campus recruiting pages, and school-specific teams often include BCG consultants who are alumni of those institutions.
Internship applications require a resume or CV and preferred work locations. Application windows vary depending on role and school location. Consulting internships typically last two to three months, though some extend up to a year. Interns who are selected move through the same problem-solving interview stage as full-time candidates. Separate application portals are maintained for students and recent graduates versus experienced professionals.
Application Guidelines and Reapplication Policy
Experienced hire candidates are encouraged to apply for one position at a time, while students and recent graduates may hold up to four open applications simultaneously. Candidates are advised to focus on a maximum of two location preferences when applying across regions. Each role can only be applied for once, so BCG encourages applicants to consider their responses carefully before submitting.
If a candidate is unsuccessful, BCG recommends waiting at least 12 months before reapplying to allow time to build additional experience and demonstrate growth.
